Member Update – March 2025

Member update

Fellow Seniors,

This is the first opportunity that we have had to touch base with you since the departure of our long time Captain/Secretary.

Previously, all contact to and from the SSGA was via one individual’s personal email account and all documentation was located on one personal computer. All website related matters were also controlled by one individual. At the time when this arrangement was established the Committee was down to the bare bones on numbers, and despite their own personal issues they continued to focus on the survival of the NSW Super Senior Golf Association (SSGA). A mind-boggling commitment!

That was where we were. Now to where we are.

After some considerable time and effort, access and oversight of the website has been achieved. However, both the content and presentation are a work in progress. Updates and deletions are kindly being managed by a third party with expertise in the field. However, please bear with us as we progressively work through updating and simplifying what we have.

Communication

The SSGA simply can’t function in the absence of effective communication mechanisms. What we have done is establish dedicated email accounts for specific aspects and roles within the SSGA with all Committee members having access. In so doing, we consider that we have addressed the obvious risks inherent in the previous arrangement.

Email accounts:

superseniorpennant@gmail.com – for all broad interaction related to the running of the Pennant with the Captain having ownership and control of the account.
superseniorchamp@gmail.com – solely for our annual Championship day with ownership and control by the Committee member/s who are managing the event.
superseniorchair@gmail.com – first point of contact with the Chair having ownership and control of the account.
superseniorcaptain@gmail.com – all matters related to the running of the Pennant with the Captain having ownership and control of the account.

Email Contacts – Team Managers / Clubs / Administration. These have been established under the Google Contacts App that are linked to the email accounts.

Documentation

In a similar fashion to the Contacts, Documentation is progressively being reviewed and loaded onto a secure Google Drive platform administered by the Committee. Approved documentation is then uploaded onto the Super Seniors NSW website.

Rules

Another item on the Committee’s agenda are the Rules, with the general view to move to a less prescriptive version. Some of the rules that we are discussing are player eligibility, team size nominations, #1 and #2 player positions and advice.

Pennant

It’s early days for the Committee but we are doing our utmost to progressively provide variation in the makeup of the Divisions. In doing so we are mindful of the travel requirements, the mix of courses and the strength of the teams. It’s not simply a case of swapping clubs.
We are pleased to welcome the following clubs into this year’s competition – Kurri, Everglades, Woolooware, Lakeside Camden and Jamberoo.
Cheers until the next update.
