NSW SSGA held its inaugural Northern Championship at Hawks Nest Golf Club on the 23 February 2026. With a field of 92, 68 from the North Coast, 22 Metropolitan players, and 2 South Coast players.

A Stableford event was held in very warm conditions with the course in outstanding condition. This did not stop the players posting some exceptional scores.

This was our first use of Golf Genius to assist with scoring & tournament management. At times the strength of phone signals was sometimes not optimal, but the hybrid model of GG & Cards was a progressive step in the right direction for our organisation.
All players enjoyed a plentiful luncheon where winners were congratulated with sponsor involvement. Thanks were made to the Lions Club for arranging breakfast BBQ which was well supported. Compliments were made to Hawks Nest Golf Club for hosting the event, excellent course preparation & function facilities.
Special thank you to Northern Championship convenor Fred Sparksman as well as the NSW Committee who were all in attendance to support a well-run championship. We look forward to another event in 2027.
